A fun run set up in order to help the armed forces community in Suffolk is to make a comeback next month.

The Honour Run will take place near Woodbridge on March 13th and will be organised jointly by East Suffolk Council and the Suffolk branch of the Royal British Legion.

Setting off from Rocks Barracks, home to engineering soldiers, those wanting to raise money can choose how far they want to run, walk or jog.

Runners can choose to do a 5km stretch, a 10km stretch, or a half-marathon run which is new for this edition of the fun run.

This will be the third Honour Run to take place, all in the name of raising money for the Poppy Appeal. The most recent run managed to raise £3,500 for those who serve in the armed forces, both past and present.

But Mandi-Cox Osbourne from the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal says they hope they can raise more so they can reach more people.

"It’s been a difficult time for all charities, but it will be great to see the community getting together; raising money for a significant cause to ensure the Royal British Legion can continue to provide those life changing services," she said.

Councillor Letitia Smith, Cabinet Member for Communities, Tourism and Leisure at East Suffolk Council also welcomed the return of the event.

"It's great to be able to invite people to take part in the third Honour Run at Rock Barracks," she said.

"Both of the previous events have proved a great success and raised vital funds for the Royal British Legion.

"People of all ages and abilities can participate in this quite unique event, which uses the MOD runway as part of the course, but spaces are limited, so booking is recommended in advance."
