Free public Wi-Fi has been switched on in both Beccles and Halesworth, with the two East Suffolk towns becoming just the latest to benefit from free internet access.

East Suffolk Council has already rolled out the Wi-Fi in Felixstowe, Lowestoft, Southwold and Woodbridge as part of its 'Digital Towns' project.

It was initially trialled in Framlingham in 2019 and is meant to help local businesses boost trade.

It also helps the council provide support to local firms and keep track of the number of visitors to local high streets.

Craig Rivett, East Suffolk Council’s Deputy Leader, said: “It’s great to this initiative being rolled out to another two towns; each now able to make use of free public Wi-Fi access and a whole package of digital benefits.

“We’re passionate about enabling our communities and local businesses to thrive with projects such as this.”

Free Wi-Fi is still to launch in Bungay, Aldeburgh, Leiston and Saxmundham.
