Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Felixstowe.

It's after an incident in the town on Saturday 10 August.

Police were called by the ambulance service at 9.21pm to a report of an assault with one person believed to have been injured.

It's believed to have taken place at around 9.20pm on the seafront promenade by Undercliff Road West.

Police were then called by the ambulance service at 10.30am on Sunday 11 August to a property in Carr Road where the injured person, a man aged in his 20s, had been found dead.

A Home Office post-mortem took place yesterday, with preliminary results indicating the cause of death is a traumatic head injury.

Officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Felixstowe on Monday evening (12 August), on suspicion of murder.

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he currently remains.

Detective Inspector Mark Hughes said: “Investigations into the man’s death continue. Detectives are making enquiries, looking into the circumstances of the altercation and identifying those in the area at the time that may be able to assist with the investigation.

“We would like to hear from anyone that might have witnessed an assault on the seafront or who might have any information that could help us in our enquiries.

“It is important to note that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to members of the public.”
