Two police officers injured in Eriswell crash now 'stable' in hospital

Both suffered life threatening injuries in the early hours of Sunday

Two police officers who suffered life threatning injuries in a crash between RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall on Sunday are now said to be stable in hopsital.

They remain in a serious condition at Addenbrookes Hospital following the collision on the B1112, involving a marked police car and a BMW X5.

It happened at around 1:20am, as the police car was responding to an emergency.

The families of both officers are being supported by police colleagues.

The driver of the BMW, a 27 year old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

He has been released on bail under Friday October 21.

Police are still trying to establish the full circumstances of the crash and are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They're also looking for dashcam footage taken in the area at the time.
