An indie band from East Anglia are hoping to raise over £1,000 for children's hospices in the region, thanks to a single written in memory of a friend who recently passed away.

The five members of 'Red Wine Talk' lost their friend Connor Clark this summer when he was just eighteen and wanted to create something positive from his loss.

Connor passed away in Devon. He was down in the South-West training to become a Royal Marine.

The groups songwriter and guitarist Callum Robb told us that attending his friend's service was really tough: "That was just the most sobering day of my life. Going to an Eighteen-year-old's memorial service was so harrowing.

"Looking around and seeing the same friendship group that would always come round our house but without Connor, it's really hard to describe. I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried a lot that day."

He also ran us through one of the reasons the group decided to write the song: "Just so something is there in the Universe forever now. If we write a song, it's always going to be there and people can always listen to it.

"In a years time, ten years time or twenty years time. Connor's name will always be earmarked next to this song and whenever anyone wants to think about him, they can play this song."

Calum went on to tell us why they choose to raise money for East Anglia Children's Hospice (EACH): "We are not directly raising money for Connor, himself. We are using ourselves as a vehicle to raise money for him and in his memory. We don't want to remember his death, its not something that any of us really want to think about to be honest.

"So, we are raising money for EACH. We just searched for a fantastic local charity, in Norfolk because we all got to know Connor here."

He concluded by saying he's really proud of what they've put together: "The singer showed it to his mum and she bawled her eyes out apparently, which is a lovely thing really. I sent it to the main PR main at EACH, Matt Plummer, he said it was fantastic and that he got emotional even though he never even knew Connor himself.

"I just can't wait to get it out there, because it's just one of those once in a lifetime songs really. I've written so many songs in my time, but this one is the pinnacle of what I think I can do."
