Driver seriously injured in crash that caused rush hour chaos on A14
The road was shut westbound at around 1:30am this morning
A driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash which caused major disruption on the A14 in Suffolk this morning.
Police were called to a collision between a car and a lorry between Haughley and Woolpit at appoximately 1:30am.
The driver of the car was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital.
The A14 has been closed westbound for much of the morning between junctions 51 at Needham Market and 47 at Woolpit.
A 37 mile long diversion is in place via the A140 and A143.
There were long queues this morning heading away from Ipswich, with many drivers opting to divert via Needham Market and Stowmarket to beat the queues.
