Detectives given more time to question pair over death of two year old girl in Ipswich
She was found inside a property on Sidegate Lane on Friday
Detectives investigating the death of a two-year-old girl in Ipswich have been granted more time by magistrates to continue questioning two suspects.
The body of the youngster was found by officers inside a property on Sidegate Lane just after 11.45am on June 30, Suffolk Police said.
A 22-year-old man, from Bedfordshire, and a 22-year-old woman, of no fixed abode, were arrested in Bury St Edmunds on suspicion of murder in the early hours of July 1.
The pair - who are known to the victim - were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
On Monday, officers made a second application for warrants of further detention at Ipswich Magistrates' Court and have been granted additional time to question the suspects. These will expire at 1.45am and 1.53am on Wednesday.
A Home Office post-mortem examination is due to take place on Tuesday.
A police scene remains in place at the property.
The force said the death is being treated as an isolated incident.
Uniformed officers have been conducting patrols in the vicinity of Sidegate Lane and anyone with any concerns is encouraged to speak to them.
