Cyclist dies after three vehicle crash in Ipswich

A cyclist has died after a crash involving three vehicles in Ipswich last night.

Police were called to Vernon Street at around 10pm to reports of a collision involving a blue Audi, a red Skoda and a grey Volkswagen, as well as a bicyclise.

Ambulance crews, including the air ambulance, were called to the scene - but a man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Audi fled the scene but police later detained a man in his 20s at an address in the Shotley area.

He is being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

A seocnd man in his 20s was also arrested at the same address on suspicion of assisting an offender and obstructing a police officer.

Police have been in the area of Vernon Street, Stoke Bridge and Wherstead Road this morning carrying out further investigations.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and are urging anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
