Covid-19 cases have been increasing in Ipswich and Babergh

Case numbers have gone up recently.

Covid-19 case numbers in Ipswich and Babergh have seen increases in the week to the 23rd February, on the previous seven days.

It comes as Suffolk as a whole is seeing its lowest coronavirus case numbers since the end of November.

In Ipswich cases went up by 32.5%, that's 40 more positive tests.

The rate of infection in the town is above the national average at 119.1 per hundred thousand people.

While in Babergh in the same week there was a rise of 6% which is three more cases.

The rate of infection there is at 57.6 per hundred thousand people which is below the national average.

The R rate in the East, which shows how fast the virus is growing, is currently between 0.6 and 0.8.

Anything below 1 means cases are continuing to fall.
