Man's body found in River Gipping in Ipswich

Police say they're treating the death as unexplained.

Suffolk Police was called at 3.30pm on Tuesday 15th December to reports a body had been found in the River Gipping in Ipswich.

Officers went to the location near Yeoman Close and with the help of Suffolk Fire and Rescue, recovered the body of a man from the water.

The force says at this time the death is being treated as unexplained but there are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

The man has not yet been identified.

A file will now be prepared for the coroner.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call South CID and Landmark House on 101 and quote reference CAD 225 of 15th December.
