Asymptomatic testing comes to Thetford

Pop testing will be held this week

Thetford has been named as the next asymptomatic covid testing site in Breckland. Residents in and around the area are encouraged to come forward and access symptom-free covid testing from today (6 April).

After initially being offered in Watton and Attleborough, the pop-up asymptomatic testing site is now coming to The Carnegie Room in Thetford, where it'll remain until Saturday (10 April).

Around one in three people who are infected with Covid-19 have no symptoms so could be spreading the disease without knowing it. Broadening testing to identify those showing no symptoms will mean finding positive cases more quickly so individuals can isolate and break chains of transmission.

The asymptomatic testing programme is being delivered locally in partnership between Breckland Council and Norfolk County Council's Public Health team. The programme was launched in the region last month, with the first pop-up sites in Watton and Attleborough.

If you live in Thetford or the surrounding areas and do not have Covid-19 symptoms, feel free to come along to The Carnegie Room at a time that suits you to get tested or you can book online (www.norfolk.gov.uk/rapidtesting) for a specific time slot.

However, people should not come to a rapid test site if they have any symptoms. Anybody who does have symptoms - a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste - should book a test at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.

Come along and get tested at The Carnegie Room between the following times.
