An event offering a weekend of art, entertainment and workshops is soon to return to Tamworth

The Art of Tamworth will take place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September in the grounds of the town's castle.

The event kicks off with a performance by Mr Wilson's Second Liners, a New Orleans-inspired 90s dance band that promises to bring infectious energy to the stage.

"Tamworth Castle Grounds will transform into a vibrant hub of artistic expression," said Vic Brown, from art group New Urban Era (Nue).

Nue has planned a range of activities in the town after securing £56,000 funding from several groups.

"The Flying Peach will captivate audiences with trapeze displays and offer workshops for those looking to try their hand at aerial skills.

"Up Creative will showcase their talents with a fashion show

"South Staffordshire College will engage participants in environmental arts workshops."

Additionally, some of the UK's top street artists will be on-site, painting live throughout the day.

Attendees can enjoy interactive workshops in breakdancing, doodle wall art, chalk art, and more.

Mr Brown, who has organised the event with Tamworth Arts and Events, said top street artists would be painting live on Saturday.

South Staffordshire College will run an environmental arts workshop.

People can try out activities including breakdancing, doodle wall art and chalk art during other workshops at the arts festival, which is free to enter.
