Teenager charged with murder and further arrests made into Harleigh Hepworth's death

West Midlands Police have charged a boy with murder after a Staffordshire teenager was fatally stabbed in Wolverhampton’s West Park last Thursday.

The 16-year-old, has been charged with the murder of Harleigh Hepworth.

The 17-year-old was found with fatal wounds at around 4.30pm.

The 16-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons will appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.

A second boy, aged 17 was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

The police investigation is ongoing as they continue to analyse CCTV and examine forensic opportunities.

Detective Inspector Ade George, from the Homicide unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Harleigh.

“We have now charged a boy over Harleigh’s death but our enquiries are continuing.

“Extra patrols in the area will continue to provide reassurance to the community and support everyone effected.”
