Tamworth FC are gearing up for their biggest match yet, as they prepare to welcome Premier League Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup third round this lunchtime.

With a sold-out 3,750-capacity, it's the club's most high-profile game since facing Everton in the third round in 2011-12.

The Lambs kick off at 12.30pm in the televised tie, having overcome League One Huddersfield in the first round and Staffordshire rivals Burton Albion in round two.

It’s the fourth time Tamworth have reached this stage of the competition, and comes just days after manager Andy Peaks signed a new full-time contract to run until 2027.

Speaking ahead of the tie, Peaks said: "I think it's massive for the town, and I think the journey we've been on for the last couple of years has been good, but to get actually get Tottenham here.

"The Huddersfield thing captured the imagination - people didn't stop talking about that, and then the local derby with Burton, so that was fantastic. So then to draw Tottenham is unbelievable.

"Talking to people round here, it's the talk of the town - which you'd expect it to be."

Sending good luck to the Lambs, Staffordshire County Council leader Alan White said: “I’m sure the whole county will be getting behind the Lambs in their FA Cup third round tie against Spurs – a massive club with a multi-million-pound squad.

"They’ll experience more intimate surroundings than they’re used to which brings home the magic of the FA Cup. Tamworth will be representing Staffordshire in what will be a historic day for the club."
