Police discover body of man at Knypersley Reservoir

Police are continuing to investigate, after the discovery of a body at Knypersley Pool in Staffordshire.

The force cordoned off the area yesterday (9 March) before the body was recovered from the water.

Police believe the body to be that of missing 74-year-old Malcom, from Lask Edge.

Officers say the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared ahead of an inquest.

In a statement, Staffordshire Police said: "Officers recovered the body of a man from a reservoir earlier yesterday (Sunday 9 March).

"We were called at 4.30pm to Knypersley Reservoir off Greenway Bank in Biddulph.

"Officers attended along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"Sadly, the body of a man was recovered from the water by fire crews.

"We are not treating the death as suspicious.

"We believe the body to be that of missing 74-year-old man, Malcolm, from Lask Edge near Biddulph Moor. Formal identification will take place in due course.

"His next of kin have been informed and a file will shortly be prepared for HM Coroner."
