Murder investigation launched after woman found dead in Stoke-on-Trent

Emergency services made the discovery in the Sneyd Green area

A murder investigation is underway after the body of a woman was found in Stoke-on-Trent.

Emergency services were called to an address on Sefton Avenue in Sneyd Green at around 9.30pm last night.

Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service declared the woman in her 60s dead at the scene.

A 53-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody today, and officers are advising the public that it is being treated as an "isolated incident".
