Four people have been injured after a major crash closed the M6 motorway for hours.

It was shut northbound between Stafford North and Stoke-on-Trent from around 8.40pm last night, with the carriageway reopening at 6am.

In an update, West Midlands Ambulance Service say four men have been taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash, with one of them being treated for serious injuries, and a second being treated for potentially serious injuries.

Two others were also taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further assessments, although their injuries aren't believed to be serious.
