Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a dog was killed and a pedestrian injured during a hit and run crash in Crewe.

The victim, was was walking her dog Pixie, was struck by a white SUV-type vehicle at 5:27pm on Underwood Lane, at the junction with Windsor Avenue.

She suffered minor injuries, but Pixie died at the scene.

The vehicle did not stop at the scene.

PC Lorna Allix, of Cheshire Police, said:

“This is a very sad incident which not only left a member of the public injured, but her beloved dog sadly died as a result of the injuries caused by the collision.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or has any other information in relation to the incident to come forward.

“The same goes for anyone who may have any relevant CCTV, dashcam, or video doorbell footage.
