Police open investigation after man found dead in Burton-on-Trent house

Two people have already been arrested on suspicion of murder

Staffordshire Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was found in a house in Burton-on-Trent.

Officers from the force were first alerted to an incident taking place at a property on Hazel Crescent in Branston at 4:45am on Sunday (August 4th).

When officers arrived on the scene, they were accompanied by the West Midlands Ambulance Service - where they found the body of a man.

Emergency medical treatment was given to the man, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's family is currently being supported by specially-trained officers following his death, as initial enquiries were carried out.

Following their initial leads, two people - a 52-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, both from Burton-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A police cordon has since been set up around the area of the house whilst investigations remain ongoing.

The suspects currently remain in police custody and are being questioned by officers, as the force launch an appeal for information.
