From each of their most memorable on air moments, ultimate throwbacks and what they love most about Staffordshire & Cheshire, get to know Elliot and Matilda a bit better, and all of the ways you can tune in...
What can we expect from your show?
Elliot: "Asides from winding Matilda up at every opportunity, the show sends you into the day with everything you need to know… and quite a few things you don’t!"
Matilda: "Silly fun, two mates having a laugh and talking about things they’ve seen online and stuff that’s going on in their own lives."
What is your favourite thing about presenting your show?
Elliot: "I get to wake up every morning and mess around with my best mate while listening to amazing tunes!"
Matilda: "I get to work with my best mate!"
These two really are the best of friends!
Describe your co-hosts in three words…
Elliot: "Competitive, Loud, Lovely"
Matilda: "Fun, Geeky, Kind"
What features will listeners hear on your show?
Elliot and Matilda said: "‘Worldwide Wednesday’ is THE MOST fun! We spin the wheel in the studio and whichever country it lands on, we journey to their local radio station and ‘borrow’ a game of theirs. We get very competitive!
" ‘Throwback Throwdown’ is an opportunity for you to vote for the next old skool tune that’s played on Hits Radio! Each of us choose an absolute tuuuune and you pick the best!
"And every weekday we give you the chance to win life-changing sums of money on Hits Radio with Make Me A Winner. It’s the most incredible feeling hearing our listeners having their lives changed!"
What’s your favourite thing about Staffordshire & Cheshire?
Elliot: "Staffordshire & Cheshire is the most kind hearted part of the country! Whenever we raise money for our fantastic charity ‘Cash for Kids’, I’m stunned at the generosity shown by our little Hits Radio family. Also, we are always really open and honest with our listeners and sometimes when things aren’t going so well, some of the messages we receive are incredible. I feel so fortunate to broadcast to this part of the world!"
Matilda: "How down to earth everyone is, everyone’s super friendly, plus they can’t help you enough in shops and when you’re out and about. Also people talk to each other, which I love."
So far, what’s been one of your most memorable on-air moments?
Elliot said: "The most memorable moment for me is sharing my IVF journey with Matilda and our listeners. My wife and I had struggled to conceive over 2 years of trying for a baby and I was disappointed at the lack of support available and how little it was spoken about. I hoped sharing my story could help just one person but the response from others in the same situation was astounding!
"Fortunately, we welcomed our daughter Aurelia to the world in July 2023!"
Matilda agreed, saying: "Our most memorable moment together was sharing his IVF journey with our listeners. It was very special."
Aside from waking up Staffordshire & Cheshire each morning, what do you get up to?
Elliot: "I love going to gigs which often means a trip to Manchester or Birmingham and is a good excuse for a weekend away! Also, Staffordshire and Cheshire have some beautiful places for dog walks with my retired police Spaniel called Finn."
Matilda: "Mainly running after my toddler in play parks or cooking dinner. If I can squeeze in a boozey brunch with mates at the Quarter at Pot Bank or even a mum’s night out at 10 Green Bottles I’m chuffed – but in general, I’m more soft play than raves these days."
What is your go-to track to listen to in the car?
Elliot: "I LOVE the new Tate McRae album! She is an incredible song writer and she teamed up with my favourite music producer Ryan Tedder on every single track!
"Our local hero Harry Styles is of course responsible for one of the greatest feel good tunes ever ‘Music for a Sushi Restaurant’ which is ALWAYS good on a car journey!"
Matilda: "My number one music icon of all time is Amy Winehouse so I do like to sing my heart out to her, although I usually have the radio on, so I’ll usually sing along to whatever’s getting played, whether I know the words or not!"
What do the biggest hits sound like to you?
Matilda: "Inspiring women doing their thing, writing awesome tunes which you can sing along to – Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande are some of my faves."
Tell us your ultimate throwback song:
Elliot: "I know from DJing at weddings regularly that you just cannot beat ‘Set You Free’ by N-Trance! A true dance classic that never fails to get everybody jumping!"
Matilda: "Christina Aguilera – Genie in a Bottle"
