Victor Valdes says goodbye to United
Reds goalkeeper looks set to move on this January.
Spanish keeper Victor Valdes time at United could finally be over after he posted a goodbye message on his twitter account.
The former Barcelona keeper moved to Old Trafford last season in an 18 month deal. What should have been a good move for both player and manager turned sour when the 34 year-old fell out with manager Louis Van Gaal.
The United boss accused the Spanish international of refusing to play for the reserves and things became so strained between manager and player that Valdes was not even issued with a squad number this Summer.
It’s believed Valdes will now join Belgian side Standard Liege on loan, although it’s extremely doubtful whether he’ll eventually return to United following such a tumultuous spell with the Reds.
