Manchester born Amir Khan claims that Floyd Mayweather is ‘too scared’ to fight him. Amir Khan has been speaking to the media this week about his next fight against the Mexican WBC middleweight champion, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, which is scheduled in May.

Khan has been desperate for a fight against Mayweather but with the self-proclaimed "best ever" now retired, he has been forced to move on. The 29-year-old from Bolton said that "Floyd, to be honest, is too scared to fight me. I did everything to make that fight happen.”

Floyd Mayweather suggested that the fight could happen after his win over Manny Pacquiao, when asked by journalists who is left for him to beat he gave the one word answer of ‘Khan’, however things didn’t progress from there.

Amir Khan told the media this week that he offered to do the fight unpaid, “I even said 'I'll fight you for free,' just to show the world that I'm a better fighter than him, but he just didn't want to fight me and wanted the easy way out."

According to Khan, Mayweather isn’t the only one who doesn’t want to face him, he said, "Mayweather let me down. Pacquiao let me down. Danny Garcia let me down. So I'm in a position where people don't want to fight me, so I have to move up. I want the biggest fights." Sam Danson
