Bolton Wanderers will no longer face tax litigation after a High Court ruling.

Inland Revenue officials wanted Bolton wound up after complaining that the football club owed more than £2 million.

Today though, Registrar Clive Jones dismissed the winding-up petition after hearing that the debt had been paid in full.

Earlier this month, he gave the club more time to pay after being told of plans to raise cash.

Club officials subsequently announced that the Sports Shield consortium fronted by former club striker Dean Holdsworth had taken control. It was announced on Sunday that Holdsworth had been made the club’s chief executive.

Bosses parted company with manager Neil Lennon shortly after Holdsworth's consortium took control with Jimmy Phillips being put in interim charge.

Bolton, who are bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table, slipped nearer to relegation on Saturday after losing 6-0 at Bristol City.
