Staff at Yorkshire Air Ambulance have unwrapped an early Christmas present, with a third brand new helicopter joining their fleet.

The Airbus H145 D3, flying under the name G-YAIR, has been fitted out in Oxfordshire and made its maiden flight for YAA on December 19.

It will fly alongside the other two helicopters, G-YAAA and G-YORX, on a rotation. It means at least one helicopter will always be available to respond to emergencies across the region.

Previously Yorkshire Air Ambulance had been forced to lease aircraft to cover any gaps left by essential maintenance.

Steve Waudby, Director of Aviation at Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said, “The addition of G-YAIR to our fleet is a pivotal moment for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, significantly enhancing our ability to maintain uninterrupted emergency response coverage."

"This investment represents our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of care to the people of Yorkshire, ensuring we are always ready to respond when needed”.
