Two teenagers have been sentenced after they admitted throwing fireworks at police during disorder in a Sheffield park last year.

Police say the 16 and 17 year olds, who can't be named for legal reasons, were part of a 'mob' which gathered at Firth Park on November 5 2023.

The group threw fireworks, eggs and other items at officers and police cars, as well as members of the public.

Dispersal orders were put in place at the time in an effort to contain the disorder.

The two teenagers were identified after police looked at bodycam and CCTV footage taken in he area at the time.

The pair admitted violent disorder at South Yorkshire Youth Court on November 7.

They both were given referral orders to a Sheffield Youth Offender Panel, as well as ordered to pay costs.

A third boy, 15, also admitted violent disorder and was given a conditional caution.

PC Dominic Feria, of South Yorkshire Police, said:

“The behaviour displayed by those involved in this incident was nothing short of disgraceful. Not only were officers put at risk of serious injury, but members of the public were also endangered.

“I hope this result is a reminder to people thinking of engaging in anti-social behaviour and violent disorder, that they will be caught and will face justice.”
