Two 'top' South Yorkshire Police dogs are headed for some well deserved rest, as both retire from the force.

PD Reggie, a seven year old Belgian Malinois, is part of one of the last litters of dogs bred by South Yorkshire Police.

He won 'Animal of the Year' at the Force Awards for his work over the past 12 months.

Benson was 'always meant to be a police dog'

PD Benson, an eight year old Dutch Herder, has served with SYP since 2019 and has proven throughout that time that he was 'always meant to be a police dog'.

Between them, Reggie and Benson have assisted with over 200 arrests.

Reggie is retiring after suffering an injury on duty and will live with a recently retired former handler. Benson will spend his retirement with his handler, enjoying a quieter life.
