South Yorkshire Police have launched an appeal for information and witnesses following a crash that left a teenager seriously injured.

Officers were called to an incident taking place on Eckington Way in Halfway, in Sheffield at around 3:10pm on Friday (August 23rd).

When responders arrived on the scene, they found that a black Benelli BN125 motorcycle had collided into a 16-year-old girl who had been crossing the road when the crash happened.

The girl received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.

As well as this, the motorcycle driver stopped at the scene to help officers in their enquiries, though they have not been arrested by the force.

Police are now launching an appeal for information and witnesses to come forward as they try to piece together the events that led to the crash.

In particular, officers are asking for those who had dashcam footage of the area at the time of the collision to get in touch as soon as possible.

Anyone who may have seen the incident take place is also being urged to contact the force as it may help in their line of enquiry.

Those who may have any relevant information can speak to the force by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 516 from August 23rd.
