Sheffield man jailed after subjecting former partner to 'months of abuse'
He'll serve a 15 month sentence and has been handed a restraining order barring him from contacting his victim
A Sheffield man who subjected a former partner to months of abuse and threatened to kill her has been jailed.
34 year old Reece Marshall, of Herries Road, was sentenced to 15 months at Derby Crown Court after admitting inflicting grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and harassment causing fear of violence.
He was also handed a restraining order preventing him from contacting his victim.
The woman first reported the abuse to police in November last year, saying Marshall was at her home in Ripley in Derbyshire threatening her with a hammer.
It was found he'd subjected her to months of abuse.
On one occasion he broke one of her ribs and burst her kidney during an assault. On another he threw a TV remote at her.
Detective Constable Joseph Collard, who led the investigation for Derbyshire Police, said: “Marshall’s behaviour towards his partner was simply horrific. He left her living in constant fear for both her life and that of her baby.
"She was controlled and subjected to brutal assaults on more than one occasion and I hope that following Marshall being jailed that she is now able to begin looking towards the future.
“We know that victims of domestic abuse can suffer in silence for years before they make contact with the police.
“However I’d encourage anyone who is suffering any form of domestic abuse to please come forward and talk to us. Our officers will listen without judgement and support you throughout as we work to bring the perpetrator to justice.”
