Man arrested after cannabis grow worth £35,000 found in Rotherham home
Police carried out a raid in the Boston Castle area on Tuesday
A man has been arrested after police uncovered a cannabis farm in a Rotherham home.
The 23 year old was arrested on Tuesday (November 19) on suspicion of being concerned in production of cannabis. He has been released on bail.
Officers carried out a raid in the Boston Castle area of town, finding 35 plants being grown inside a house.
It's thought the drugs produced would have a street value of around £35,000.
Electricity inside the home had also been bypassed.
Inspector John Crapper, of South Yorkshire Police, said:
“Cannabis isn’t a harmless drug. It is often linked to organised crime gangs (OCGs) who tar our local communities with misery and violence.
“Cultivations like this help fund the illegal activities of OCGs. We will carry on gathering further intelligence and work with partners to create safer communities.
“We would urge the public to report any concerns to us. Look out for signs that a property is potentially being used for illegal activity.”
