It's hoped the controversial regeneration works on Fargate in Sheffield city centre will be finished 'by the end of February'.

They've been ongoing since early 2023 - & it's made the area hard to navigate due to the number of barriers which have been installed there - with a lot of the street getting dug up.

One man in Sheffield say it's made the experience of visiting the city centre 'quite unpleasant':

"It's been an eyesore for months. It wants finishing, the whole thing has just been a mess from start to finish.

"It's not a good look for Sheffield, and it's not a good advertisement for people coming into Sheffield from around the country."

Another woman in the city tells us she isn't confident it'll get finished on time:

"It doesn't look like it's going to get completed in the next month.

"The whole thing has been a bit of a pain for those who like coming in to the city centre.

"To me, it looks the same as it did last year."

The Council tell us they're hopeful the current cold snap of weather won't scupper their plans to get the project finished on time.
