A driver who hit and killed a Doncaster mum of three, as he sped along Bawtry High Street in 2022, has been jailed for over a decade.

36 year old Matthew Harris, of Burcroft Avenue, was handed a 10 year eight month sentence at Sheffield Crown Court after admitting to causing death by dangerous driving.

He was behind the wheel of a Nissan Juke which struck wo people on July 24 2022, including mum of three Keita Mullen.

She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her friend sustained minor injuries but was left with lasting trauma.

Harris fled the scene but police were later able to link a wing mirror left at the scene with his vehicle, which was parked at his home.

Keita's DNA was found on its windscreen.

It's believed Harris had consumed over 10 pints of lager at a bar on Burncroft Hill on the day of the crash, before driving on the A1 towards Doncaster.

He was also handed a 12 year driving ban, which will begin once he's released from prison.
