40,000 people from all over the world joins us at Tramlines Festival, Sheffield from July 21st - July 23rd! Get ready for another year of phenomenal artists, exhilarating atmosphere, and music galore! Not only is Tramlines Festival a hub of entertainment, it is committed to promoting, supporting and engaging with the local Hillsborough Community and City of Sheffield! 🌟 Here are 10 things you didn't know about Tramlines.... 👀 👇

🌟 1 . Tramlines Trust
Tramlines has now raised over £150k for charity since 2018 and donated over 350 tickets in 2022 to Tickets for Good, Sheffield Young Carers and other local charities. Tramlines is committed to promoting, supporting and engaging with the local Hillsborough Community and City of Sheffield. In 2022, Tramlines raised £53,300, £30,100 went to 42 local organisations through the Tramlines Trust Funding Grants, with over £10,000 to Hillsborough based organisations.
Tramlines will announce another group of beneficiaries in Autumn 2023 with application opening again in 2024!
🌟 2 . Under the Stars
Under the Stars is an arts and events charity for people with learning disabilities. Empowering and enabling people with learning disabilities by developing their individual talent, skills, confidence and independence. Each year Under the Stars bands open The Open Arms stage on the Saturday of Tramlines festival, they showcase a completely original composition, playing to the strengths of the performers to produce a unique and uplifting piece.
🌟 3 . Apply to Play
Every year, Tramlines’ hosts the Apply to Play scheme, welcoming emerging performers and bands, with the chance to play across Tramlines stages to large audiences. Tramlines’ aims to identify, develop and support musicians, it’s free to enter, and they listen to every submission and the finalists are chosen by a fantastic and diverse panel.
Apply to Play 2023 is now LIVE! This year, they've changed things up! They've partnered up with some brilliant brands to offer all the finalists an extra special prize, PLUS an incredible prize package is up for grabs for a very lucky Winner! More info HERE.
🌟 4 . Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind
For many years, the Tramlines Festival Press Team has worked with the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind to create an audio guide for Tramlines. The guide was distributed to all their members and aimed at visually impaired people.
🌟 5 . Schools, Colleges, and Universities
In 2019, Sheffield Hallam University and Tramlines collaborated with local secondary schools on a Marketing competition for GCSE Students. Schools from across the region took part in a 2 month project to create a marketing strategy for Tramlines, with the chance to win work experience at the event, plus entry to the festival once their work experience was completed.
In 2018 & 2019 the Tramlines Press team worked closely with Forge Media’s Journalism department, various mini-projects were undertaken to ensure students can gain a real insight into what it takes to work within the world of event press and journalism.
🌟 6 . Attitude is Everything
Attitude is Everything connects Deaf and disabled people with music and event industries to improve access together. Following 2021’s event, Tramlines was awarded ‘Gold Status’ by Attitude is Everything for its commitment to making the event accessible. In order to achieve this status the festival committed to a ‘Charter of Best Practice’, an accreditation framework covering all aspects of live event accessibility, recognised by the UK Live as the industry standard.
Tramlines Festival truly champions accessibility as one of the industry standard leaders, and improves year on year to meet the needs and requirements of all customers.
🌟 7 . Spoken Word & Poetry
In 2019 Tramlines introduced Speakers’ Corner. The stage is dedicated to showcasing poetry and spoken word. Programmed by Sheffield’s 2020 Poet Laureate Otis Mensah, Speakers Corner brings diversity, honesty and vulnerability to Tramlines Festival, offering lyricists the chance to perform throughout the weekend, enabling them to engage with an audience and develop their work.
🌟 8 . Volunteering Scheme
Each year Tramlines works with local Volunteer managers to offer students, graduates and the local community the chance to gain experience and insight in working on a festival site.
Volunteers work alongside organisers and ticket companies whilst problem solving in high energy environments. Over 100 roles are offered every year, in exchange for completed shifts the volunteers will gain entry.
🌟 9 . Graduate Placements & Internships
Since 2019 Tramlines has offered 48 graduate paid work placements, including a four-week paid internship. The festival works closely with the Events Management Course at Sheffield Hallam University and University of Sheffield to offer a platform for young people in Sheffield, enabling them to build upon their skills, as well as gain insight and practical experience in the events industry.
🌟 10 . Love Local
Nurturing local talent sits at the forefront of the festival’s pillars, each year Tramlines engage with and provide a platform for local Sheffield and South Yorkshire based acts. Since 2018, the festival has hosted 171 local bands and artists, across all stages including the mighty Sarah Nulty Main Stage.
