Author, Emma Glass, has been nominated for the prestigious Dylan Thomas Prize.
The award, named after Swansea-born writer Dylan Thomas, recognises exceptional literary talent under the age of 39.
Glass' novel Mrs Jekyll is one of twelve to make up the long list.
"When I sat down to write Mrs Jekyll, I had no idea what would be on the other side of the story," she told Greatest Hits Radio.
"So to know it's touched readers and recognised by this prestigious award is just so exciting.
"Growing up in a working class family in Wales, there's such a richness to life you don't see represented anywhere so when I sit down to write, I try to tell stories that I don't think are going to be heard."
The longlisted titles will now be whittled down to a six strong shortlist by a panel of judges.
The Swansea University Dylan Thomas Prize shortlist will be announced on Thursday 20 March.
