Andrew RT Davies has survived a vote of no confidence among Tory Senedd members this morning.

Greatest Hits Radio and Hits Radio understands the vote was split among the Conservative Senedd group, with nine voting for him and seven against.

The vote was called off the back of concerns being raised about his leadership style, social media use and the direction of the party in Wales.

It's understood the vote took place in a meeting room at the Senedd and that a show of hands was used to tally the vote totals, as opposed to a secret ballot.

Davies has led the party in Wales in two non-consecutive terms since 2011, with a short break during Paul Davies' reign, between 2018 and 2021.

It comes as the latest Senedd polling shows the Conservatives in fourth place, behind Plaid Cymru, Labour and Reform UK.

Davies has also been criticised by former Senedd group leader Nick Bourne, who he succeeded in 2011, and former Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb.
