Woman and dog rescued from fire started by tumble dryer
Firefighters used a ladder to help the woman escape
A woman and a dog have been rescued from a fire in a house in Gosport which was started by a tumble dryer.
Fire crews were called to the home in Howe Road shortly before 10.30am on Friday.
The woman was rescued by a firefighter who led her out of the house and down a ladder.
She was treated for smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital and the dog was given oxygen.
Station manager Carl Halewood from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were able to perform a successful rescue thanks to the quick and efficient response from our crews.
"Their swift actions ensured we were able to prevent the fire from spreading and causing more damage to the property.
"We urge you to make sure your clothes are drying safely and that you have a working smoke alarm on each floor of your home."
