Weather warning for rain across the South this weekend
It'll be in place from the Met Office for Saturday and Sunday
Weather forecasters have extended a warning of heavy rain for the South this weekend.
The Met Office's yellow alert is now in place for the whole of Saturday and Sunday (28th and 29th October).
It'll cover eastern parts of Dorset, southern bits of Wiltshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and West Sussex.
In their warning, the Met Office say:
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
Forecasters say some areas could see up to 70mm in just a few hours - as well as strong coastal winds of up to 55 miles per hour.
Many parts of the warning area will see around 15 to 30 mm of rain.
It comes after a prolonged period of wet weather across the South in recent weeks, leaving ground saturated.
The weather's also expected to remain unsettled into next week as well.
