Two major fires broke out on the Isle of Wight early this morning (Friday 1st December), which saw one man taken to hospital and dozens of fires crews drafted in from across the Island and Hampshire.
Crews first attended a barn blaze in Bowcombe on the outskirts of Carisbooke at around 12.30am.
The structure measuring 56M x 25M was 90% destroyed and the roof collapsed.
At it's height, 17 crews from across the Island and Hampshire were in attendance. Bowcombe Road was closed in both directions while crews dealt with the incident.
The stop message came in at 4:44am with some crews remaining to damp down.
At around 3am, nine fire crews were called to New Road in Brading where a two-storey, semi detached house was well alight.
The building was 100% destroyed, with the fire spreading to the adjoining roof.
A 60-year-old man was transported to Salisbury Hospital with burns, although his condition is thought to be stable.
People living nearby are being asked to keep their windows and doors closed.
