Southampton murder: victim died from single stab wound

A man in his 60s was found with "significant injuries"

Police investigating the murder of a man in Southampton say he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

Officers were called to a flat Warburton Road in Thornhill at 1.08am on Saturday.

"A man in his 60s was found inside the address. He had sustained significant injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene," a Hampshire Police spokesman said.

"His next-of-kin have been informed.

Officers carried out warrants at two addresses in International Way at around 00.15am and an address in Bursledon Road at around 3.05am this morning (28 February).

Three men aged 20, 23 and 31, all from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

They remain in police custody at this time while enquiries continue.

DCI Dal Andrews is leading the investigation. She said: “This is a fast moving investigation and our staff and officers are working around the clock to carry out their enquiries.

“We are still appealing for witnesses so please get in touch with any footage or information you might have. It could make all the difference to our investigation.”

Superintendent Philip Lamb, district commander for Southampton, said: “In Thornhill, officers continue to be on patrol and a mobile police station has been set up in Warburton Road.
