Second man charged with murder of man in Chichester pub

A second man has been charged with the murder of a man from South Yorkshire in a pub in Chichester.

David Hallatt was assaulted by a man unknown to him at the Dolphin and Anchor in West Street on June 20th, while enjoying an evening with workmates.

The 57-year-old tiler was given CPR by paramedics at the scene following the incident at around 11pm that night, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

31-year-old Dyce Barnfield, of Kingstanding Road in Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of affray at the time of the incident and was bailed. He has now been charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 26th).

30-year-old Kieran Egan, of Baldmoor Lake Road in Birmingham, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.

He pleaded not guilty at Hove Crown Court on August 19th and remanded in custody.

He is due to stand trial at Lewes Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

A 42-year-old man from County Durham, who was arrested on suspicion of affray at the time of the incident, has been released under investigation.
