A 9-year-old girl from West End near Southampton says she was 'really surprised' to receive a card from the Queen last week.

Lois Hanson had sent a poem to Her Majesty to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee in June.

On Friday (9th September 2022) she received the thank you card in the post, a day after Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral.

The letter was signed "Elizabeth R" and included two photographs of the Queen alongside a Royal coat of arms.

The monarch's message gave "grateful thanks for your kind message on the occasion of the Seventieth Anniversary of my Accession to the Throne".

Lois' mum, Zoe Hanson, checked the postmark of the reply - which was 7 September 2022 - the day before Her Majesty died.
