With King Charles III now on the throne, the responsibility of Poundbury near Dorchester falls to Prince William, the new Duke of Cornwall.

The development is built on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, and traditionally Dukes of Cornwall have managed their own estates.

The King has played a major role in the design and philosophy of Poundbury and is a frequent visitor.

Deputy Leader for Dorset Council Peter Wharf thinks we could now be seeing more of Prince William.

He said: "King Charles is actually a more frequent visitor here then most people realise and I think Prince William will be most welcome and we will be extending the hand of friendship to him very soon.

Councillor for Sherborne East John Andrews said he thinks King Charles III may well still drop by.

"The Duke of Cornwall and the Poundbury Estate which will all know is King Charles' baby will be taken over and grasped with both hands by Prince William.

"Dorchester might be lucky to see the King more than any other towns in Dorset and he will be made very welcome."
