With the warm weather and heatwaves, some people are opting for a BBQ for their dinner, but the danger of them shouldn’t be underestimated.

The London Fire Brigade called for a ban as they attended more than 1,000 dry grass fires from BBQs since June.

Romsey and Southampton North MP, Caroline Nokes took the issue to Prime Minister’s Questions, paying tribute to the fire fighters and asked the Prime Minister to ban disposable BBQs and Chinese Lanterns.

In response, Boris Johnson said ‘the key thing is for people to behave responsibly, it’s clearly insane to put a BBQ on dry grass’.

This comes as fire crews across the country have been battling wildfires from temperatures soaring to 40 degrees.

One regional service said the number of open fires could have tripled this week, with the Met Office warning that most of England was at an exceptional risk of them.
