Poole's Twin Sails Bridge repairs on track
BCP Council say the structure's due to reopen in the middle of August
We're told Poole's Twin Sails Bridge, which has been shut since May, is still due to reopen this month.
Engineers and specialist contractors have been carrying out repairs.
BCP Council say they hope to have the bridge back open to traffic and operating on a regular schedule from Monday 12th of August.
The final preparations for the reopening will include scheduled lifts of the bridge during the day next week (from 5th August), with any further work carried out overnight to prevent disruption for marine traffic.
Councillor Andy Hadley, Portfolio Holder for Climate Response, Environment and Energy, at BCP Council said:
“Our teams have been working hard to get the Twin Sails bridge operational, engaging with specialist contractors as well as key stakeholders, to ensure this process runs smoothly, and the planning is finalised.
“The bridge will continue to operate on a single cylinder on each side whilst we work on the long-term plan for the bridge, including identifying suitable funding sources to restore the bridge to full service.
“We appreciate the congestion in the vicinity, and I understand the impact these works have had on all users of the bridge, and I’d like to apologise for the inconvenience and thank everyone for their patience during these works.”
