Next phase of Portsmouth Gunwharf Quays £45m revamp revealed
The proposals include improving one of the main entrances
Plans have been revealed for the next phase of a £45m revamp of Gunwharf Quays shopping centre in Portsmouth.
Improvements will be made to the main entrance tunnel near Portsmouth Harbour train station.
There will also be new retail space and a revamp of some existing shopfronts and landscaping.
Owners Landsec are proposing more seating for visitors and bigger, more modern toilet facilities.
If approved, works to Marlborough Square will start next summer.
This follows the planning consent for The Avenues, with work due to start in early 2024.
Alongside its planning application, Gunwharf Quays will soon be installing solar panels to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
Centre director Yvonne Clay said: "This submission marks another milestone in our long-term investment in Gunwharf Quays.
"We’re focused on making improvements to every moment our guests spend with us – every time they visit, and ensuring we provide the best place for our retailers to flourish."
