The 19 year old's death four days ago is being treated as murder

A teenager whose death near Southampton is being treated as murder has been named.

Tawana Choruma was found injured in Station Road around 6.26pm on Wednesday 18th December 2024.

The 19-year-old had been stabbed - and despite the best efforts of paramedics - he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Tawana's family are being supported by specialist officers at this time.

Hampshire Police's Major Crime Unit is continuing investigate the incident.

Two 18-year-old men from Southampton have been arrested on suspicion of murder, and an 18-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of murder and acquiring / using / possessing stolen property.

A 36-year-old woman from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, no further action has been taken for this offence.

The woman was also arrested for possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. She has been released on conditional bail.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson earlier made an appeal to Netley residents to help:

"Following lines of enquiry, we are now asking local residents to check their bins for anything that may assist. We are specifically keen to locate a mobile phone which may have been dumped nearby."

Detectives remain keen to hear from anyone who was in the Station Road Recreation Ground area at the time of the incident.
