Met Office gives snow update during cold snap
A snow warning is in place for southern England
Snow and ice is expected across the south on Wednesday, the Met Office has said.
Temperatures are set to remain in low single figures during the day on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecasters warn a period of snow is likely to cause some travel disruption during Wednesday.
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place for Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Sussex until Wednesday night.
Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said: "Temperatures will be much, much colder than we would expect at this time of year.
"We expect these conditions to remain in place until at least next weekend and possibly longer because sometimes these conditions can be quite stubborn and not easily subject to change."
The Met Office warned travel disruption is likely and journey times by car, train and bus may take longer than usual.
