Marwell Zoo to welcome over 50 brick dinosaurs
More than two million bricks have been used to make the creatures
Hampshire's Marwell Zoo is getting a lot of new creatures - made up of more than two million toy bricks.
55 prehistoric creatures have started to arrive at the site near Winchester ahead of the launch of the Brickosaurs exhibition in April.
Professional builders at Bricklive International in Hampshire have spent more than 9,000 hours to render some of the creatures, using 3D digital models and computer sculpting software.
Teams of between two and seven then build each sculpture around stainless steel frames to ensure structural integrity and safety, gluing together one brick at a time.
Highlights include an incredible seven metre-long Spinosaurus, a nodding Heterodontosaurus and a huge Mosasaur emerging from the water.
Sean Mannie, Marwell Zoo’s Commercial Director, said:
“It’s wonderful to see the Brickosaurs begin to arrive and the finishing touches take shape. Everyone who has been involved in bringing BRICKOSAURS! Evolution to life has truly gone above and beyond into creating this spectacular event and we’re counting down the weeks until we can showcase them to our guests.
!It will be a chance to step back in time and come face-to-face with more than 20 species on an immersive and educational adventure through our beautiful 140 acre park.
"We’re certain the all-new show will thrill guests of all ages and make Marwell a ‘must-visit’ family day out for 2022."
BRICKOSAURS! Evolution is included with general admission to the zoo and is on display from April 1st until September 4th.
