Man charged with possessing machete in Chichester city centre

Police made an arrest following a disturbance on Halloween

Police have charged a man following an incident in Chichester city centre on Halloween, in which a man was reportedly seen with a machete.

Officers were called to a reported disturbance in South Street at around 10.30pm on October 31st.

18-year-old George Lowman, of Arundel Road in Fontwell, was arrested on Sunday (November 3rd) for possession of a weapon in a public place and affray.

He was charged the following day and has been bailed with conditions until February 26th next year, where he will stand trial at a currently to be fixed court.

Sussex Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
