A man's been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault in Southampton.

An 18 year old man was attacked in Hill Lane in the early hours of Sunday 10th November.

His injuries are believed to have been caused by a bladed object, affecting his back and wrist - he's since been discharged from hospital.

A 17 year old boy also sustained injuries in the incident and was given treatment but is no longer in hospital.

A 38 year old from London has now been arrested in Croydon and has since been given conditional bail.

This follows the arrest of a 35-year-old woman from Southampton on suspicion of assisting an offender.

She has been released from police custody but remains under investigation.

A 17 year old boy previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident has been released from the investigation with no further action to be taken against him.

Appeal for witnesses

Detectives still want to hear from people who may have witnessed the incident who might not have spoken to police yet.

They're specifically asking anybody who was in Sony’s Bar, Shirley Road, between 7.00pm and 11.00pm on the evening of Saturday 9th November to come forward - if they saw any altercations, or any behaviour that seemed suspicious.

There's an appeal to trace the driver of this car on Hill Lane around the time of the incident, as they could hold vital information about what happened

Officers also want to trace the owner of a red car which was travelling along Hill Lane at 1.00am on Sunday 10th November. They've said:

"We appreciate that these images are not of the best quality, and we are carrying out further enquiries in order to obtain clearer images. We believe the occupants of this vehicle may have seen something significant and we are really eager to hear from them."

If you can help with any information, you're asked to call Hampshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 44240489487.

You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
