Major improvements to busy commuter route near completion

Drivers are being urged to plan ahead due to overnight closures on the A31 near Ringwood, which will see major roadworks edge closer to completion.

The work to widen the westbound carriageway to three lanes and replace two bridges over the River Avon and Bickerley Millstream enters its final stage this week.

The road will be fully re-opened between the Ringwood and Verwood junctions, as well as the entry slips from 6.00am on Saturday 19 November.

As part of the final stages, overnight road closures will be required as follows:

The eastbound A31 will closed overnight Tuesday 15 November (8pm - 6am) between A338 Ashley Heath and M27 Junction 1 Cadnam.

The westbound A31 will be closed overnight from Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 November (8pm - 6am) between M27 Junction 1 Cadnam to A338 Ashley Heath.

On Friday 18 November, the eastbound A31 will be closed again overnight (8pm - 6am) between A338 Ashley and M27 Junction 1 Cadnam.
